REBECKA PERSHAGEN

Born 1985 in Stockholm

 

After majoring in Acting at Södra Latin High School, 2001-2004, and one year of vocational education in Musical Theatre at Kulturama in Stockholm, 2006-2007, she was in 2007 accepted to the Swedish Theatre Academy (Teaterhögskolan) in Gothenburg, majoring in Musical Theatre, from which she graduated in 2010.

 

She has worked at eg. The Royal Swedish Dramatic Theatre (Dramaten), Norrlandsoperan, Östgötateatern and The Modern Museum as an actress and performer in Sweden, and held a longer position as a musical theatre artist in Norway. Since 2013 she has focused on creating her own artistic projects in a variety of disciplines.

 

She is the founder, CEO and artistic director of the artistic audiowalk app, Tempus Fugit (Stockholm Innovation Scholarship 2014), for which she has also written and co-produced over 30 unique and site-specific sound experiences worldwide (focusing on Stockholm) since its launch in 2014. In June 2017 she had premiere on an audiowalk about the author Per Anders Fogelström, commissioned by the Stockholm City Museum for his 100th anniversary, which has been heard by more than 3,000 people so far.

 

In spring 2017 she participated in Marina Abramovic's new piece The Cleaner at Eric Ericsson Hall / The Modern Museum in Stockholm, as well as showing the performance and video piece Sich einzig gegenzeitig anzugehören at The Royal Opera in Stockholm.

 

She was also on tour with two of her former award-winning pieces: the autobiographical monologue Daddy Issues in Scandinavia and Britain in March - May 2017, and in May 2017 she performed her long-term performance The First and Last Dance at the opening ceremony of Der Frankfurter Art Summer in Frankfurt.

 

She performs frequently throughout Sweden as her alter ego’s Rivka Rossweisse (burlesque performer and jazz singer) and Bex de la Kex (drag queen and DJ), and has held freelance jobs as performing arts producer and social media manager for eg. Dalhalla Opera and Operabyrån.

 

After graduating from the University of Stockholm in January 2015 (where she studied 135 hp psychology, music theory and fashion science), she was honored to receive the Alumni of the Month recognition, as well as being Key Note Speaker at the Introductory Day in Aula Magna in September 2015, and she has also been a guest teacher in performance art at Södra Latin High School.

 

In 2018, she will work with more sound experiences for Tempus Fugit around Stockholm, be part of Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm with an exhibition with own photos and video work at the booth of Kunstverein Familie Montez from Frankfurt, publish poems in the culture magazine Hjärnstorm and opening her an own art gallery at Kungsholmen in Stockholm, focusing on photo and video art.

 

In August 2018, her new monologue / performance / sound installation The Swan Woman / Svankvinnan will also open at the Gothenburg Fringe Festival, and later Stockholm Fringe Festival.
